Rajma chawal is an extremely popular vegetarian dish in India. It literally translated to “ red kidney beans in gravy”. This delicious curry and rice combo is a staple food in northern India and is super easy to prepare! It not only delight your tastebuds but also give your nose a curious nudge with its lovely aroma. Punjabi style rajma is the most popular, so Let’s have a brief look at Wellcurve’s special take on the rajma chawal recipe.

INGREDIENTS Serving : 2-3 Servings

  1. Olive Oil – 2 tbsp
  2. Onions (Chopped) – 1 cup
  3. Green chill (Chopped) – 1 tbsp
  4. Tomatoes (Chopped) – ½ cup
  5. Ginger – 1 tsp
  6. Salt – According to your taste
  7. Garam Masala – 1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric – 1 tbsp
  9. Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
  10. Cardamom Powder – 1 tsp
  11. Water – As an when required
  12. Rajama (Boiled) – 2 cups
  13. Bay Leaf – 2 leaves
  14. Black Pepper (Whole) – 5 pcs
  15. Cinnamon Stick – 1 small stick

 

NOTE

We have used Gaia’s authentic olive oil and Conscious food organic kidney beans for this addictively delicious rajma rice recipe. They were the pillars of taste and flavor in our easy rajma recipe.

A 120 g serving of a delicious bowl of rajma rice has the following constituents

  6. Proteins – 9.5g
  7. Vitamin A – 9 % of DV

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. To the cooking pan, add some olive oil and add some black pepper, 2 bay leaves.
  2. Now, add some chopped onions. Fry them well till the onions are cooked.
  3. Add some chopped tomatoes and salt ( according to taste). Stir all the ingredients well.
  4. It’s time to spice things up! Add 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp turmeric,1 tsp Chilli Powder and 1 tbsp Cardamom
  5. Powder. Mix the spices and the veggies well.
  6. To make the broth, add some water. You can add water according to your preference.
  7. Now, it’s time to get your rajma ready! To this delectable broth, add 2 cups of boiled kidney beans.
  8. Now, all the ingredients are together! Let the broth & kidney bean boil on slow flame for 20 minutes. This
  9. enhances the flavor and texture of your rajma.
  10. Your rajma curry is ready.
  11. Serve it up with some rice, and enjoy!
