  • Sooji – 2 Cups
  • Curry Leaves – 10-12 (Chopped)
  • Ginger – 1 Teaspoon (Grated)
  • Coriander leaves – 3 Stand (Chopped)
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Buttermilk – 1 Cup
  • Water – as per the requirement
  • Onion – One medium size (Chopped)
  • Red chilly powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Eno – 1 Teaspoon
  • Oil – 1 Tablespoon

NOTE

If you see from modern cuisine lenses podi Onion Uttapam is a thick pancake made with urad dal, to elevate the taste and nutrition of the recipe we have used Organic tattva red chilly powder.

INSTRUCTIONS

It’s an easy-to-cook recipe that can be made by anyone by following some basic instructions but each step is important. if any of the steps are missed it might ruin the taste of the recipe. Therefore we have mentioned in detail the recipe’s instructions, go through it and make a soft and delicious tasting Onion uthappam.

  • In a bowl take sooji, curry leaves, ginger, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Add buttermilk to the bowl and mix it well
  • Now add water to the mix in a quantity that turns into a liquidy consistency
  • Cover the paste and keep it aside for an hour
  • Uncover the batter if the consistency has become thick add more water to the paste to make its consistency liquidy and keep it aside
  • In another bowl add chopped onion, coriander, salt, and red chilly powder and mix all the ingredients well
  • Take the batter bowl and add Eno and water to it and oil to it, before cooking
  • Heat a tawa, and allow it to it, Grease it with oil and spread the uthappam batter on it in a round form
  • Once bubbles begin to appear on the sides, add the onion mix on top of it, cover it and cook for 4-5 minutes
  • Flip and cook it from both sides by covering it for a couple of minutes 
  • Enjoy it with coconut chutney.
