Instant Malpua Recipe

Malpua is a popular north Indian sweet delicacy. They are the center of every festive delight. It usually involves the amazing amalgamation of flour, cardamom, fennel powder, milk and ghee. You will be surprised to know that these sweet pancakes are also offered as a part of chappan (56) bhog to Lord Jagannath during the ever famous Jagannath Rath Yatra! This staple sweet can be adorned with almonds and pistachios and can be served well with rabri (sweetened milk).

There are many variations of malpua recipe, but this delicious Indian pancake is surprisingly easy to make and takes very little prep time. So, let’s take a look at the instant malpua recipe.

INGREDIENTS Serving : serves 1-2

Malpua Ingredients:

Flour – 1 Cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Fennel power – 1.5 tsp
Milk – ¼ Cup
Water – ½ Cup
Sweetener (Sugar / Erythritol ) – 3 tbsp
Ghee – 1 tsp
Saffron – 0.5 tsp

NOTE

As shown in the video  Here for this malpua recipe we have used Zevic Erythritol sugar alternative, a less calorie substitute to normal sugar. This works great if you are looking to enjoy these delicious pancakes in a healthy way!

INSTRUCTIONS

How to Make Malpua at Home

  1. Take a bowl and Add 1 cup of flour in it.
  2. Then add 1 tbsp Cardamom powder, 1.5 tbsp Fennel power
  3. Add  ¼ Cup Milk and  ½ Cup water to make the pancake batter.
  4. The consistency of the batter should be a little thick to make crispy pancakes. 
  5. Add 1 cup of water to another vessel
  6. Add 3 tbsp sweetener ( sugar / Erythritol) to this water.
  7. Add 0.5 tbsp of Saffron and some cardamoms to the sweetened water.
  8. Pour some ghee into a frying pan 
  9. Pour the malpua batter into the pan and let it cook.
  10. Flip the batter to cook both the sides.
  11. Once cooked, put the malpuas in the sweetened water. 
  12. Let it soak the sweet flavor of sugar, saffron and cardamoms. 
  13. When done, put them on a plate and enjoy!
